Gilligan

One of the hardest days of my life was just recently, December 11th to be exact. My husband and I had to put our beloved Sharpei, Gilligan to sleep. He had been sick recently and losing weight. We found out that he had a mass in his abdomen, and he went downhill quickly. I could not stand to see my best friend suffer so much.

Gilligan was with me through good times and bad, and for a long time it was just the two of us. When I met Larry, he knew that Gilligan was my heart, and to love me was to love Gilligan. He and Gilligan forged a special bond.

I loved to come home to see him hop up and greet me, tail wagging, ready to go outside. When he was diagnosed with Glaucoma, I was determined that he would not lose his sight. My husband and I put drops in his eyes twice a day religiously. The specialist could not believe how well he had responded to the treatment. He was a "special needs" dog, but he gave so much more than he took-unconditional love, compassion, companionship and happiness. When I adopted him, I thought that I was helping him, as it turns out, I needed him a lot more than he needed me. My heart is broken, I have lost my best friend. I just hope that he knew just how much he was (and still is) loved. Goodbye my sweet boy, i'll see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you all for reading. I hope that each of you and your families have a wonderful Holiday. I will probably be taking a break from the blog thing, just until the first of the year. My heart is just not in it. I hope that you understand, and I promise to keep bringing you great gift ideas in the new year!

Oh, I am so sorry. It is so hard to lose a member of our "pet" family. I understand how you feel. Just remember that your "best friend" did know how you felt because you can't fool "dogs or children". And that is so true. Looking forward to visiting with you in 2009. Have a Merry, Merry Christmas. We are all thinking about you. xoxo

Oh Miss Gumshoe, I am so, so sorry. Gilligan sounds like he was a very cool fellow, and he looks like he was happy to be in such a loving home.

We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers Miss J, we know how tough it is. For us it always seemed harder during the holidays.

Sending you a cyberhug,
tp

No words can even begin to describe how my heart goes out to you. I know Gilligan was your life and he cannot be replaced. You are in my thoughts and my prayers to in getting through these hard times of sorrow. I am sure the pain will always be present and the spot in your heart for him will never change. Take care Jessica, you by far are the most loving animal person I know and any animal would be so lucky to know you as their mother.
-love always
